Our petition to stop bullying will be the basis for a bill to be considered by the Mass. legislature. The petiton has been presented to Senator Patricia Jehlen, Chair of the senate committee on elder affairs, who is sympathetic to our concerns. Now is the time for everyone concerned to help. We ask that you advocate through us or let us know what you have done so that we can report and coordinate.
We want to have your ideas, suggestions, criticisms so that we can build the most effective solution.
Help us to circulate and collect petitions, and to collect letters of endorsement, names of people prepared to speak about the need for this kind of remedy. We need to hear from professionals, residents, staff anyone who can testify to the problem and advocate for the need for remedial action. We can accept endorsements and, if need be, not reveal the identity of the person.
We need and welcome narratives and examples of problems and what has been tried, what seems to work.
Wherever possible, to have residents advocate with their elected representatives; local and especially the Mass House and Senate, so that we will be able to show that the problem is statewide and that there is support statewide. If people prefer to contact their representatives directly we would also like to be informed so we can track the support.
We want to be able to provide legislators with materials and names of people prepared to testify, if necessary.
