New Lively Art Scene in Salem: Photographs on Exhibit

A year ago, when I exhibited at the Row Gallery at Artists Row in Salem, I lamented the lack of venues for contemporary art in Salem. Fortunately, that is changing.

Last year, with the exception of the Row Gallery, there were not many options. Artists could only show their works in a variety of shops and stores, paying full gallery commissions on sales while providing free decor for the shop. While this kind of exhibition in stores does get exposure, it rarely leads to sales.

Over the fall and winter, however, artists got together and created the Salem Arts Association. This weekend will see a flurry of activity: an opening, open-air exhibitition and sale of work outside the Old Town Hall, and more. The Salem Arts Association has begun a series of social and informative meetings, creating a network of artists. I am pleased to be a member of the Association.

Come view some of my photographs at Artists Row in Salem, MA at the gallery of the Salem Arts Association. Several of my favorite landscapes are being exhibited at sass:C - a collaborative gallery of art & craft at Artist Row in downtown Salem. See map and hours http://salemartsassociation.org/experience/sassc.html

I also have several prints hanging at Perriwinkle's, a good, friendly restauraunt in Swampscott. It's nice to see some natural beauty on the walls while I have my lunch.
